Definition

Let KK be a discretely with inertia subgroup IKI_K and wild inertia subgroup PKP_K. An étale representation, or the corresponding étale , is tamely ramified if

PKP_K

acts trivially. It may still have nontrivial action of the tame quotient IK/PKI_K/P_K.

This étale definition should not be identified with of a complex connection without invoking a comparison theorem.
