For every integer n≥1n\ge1, PGL⁡(n,C)\operatorname{PGL}(n,\mathbb C) is the

PGL⁡(n,C)=GL⁡(n,C)/{λI:λ∈C×},\operatorname{PGL}(n,\mathbb C)=\operatorname{GL}(n,\mathbb C)/\{\lambda I:\lambda\in \mathbb C^\times\},

with the structure.

Dimensions and structure

This group has real dimension 2(n2−1)2(n^2-1), complex dimension n2−1n^2-1. It acts on by applying a representative matrix to a line. Every nonzero complex determinant has an nnth root. Rescaling a representative therefore identifies PSL(n,C)\mathrm{PSL}(n,\mathbb C) with PGL(n,C)\mathrm{PGL}(n,\mathbb C).

Its structure uses holomorphic multiplication and inversion. Forgetting the complex structure gives the ; real and holomorphic homomorphisms belong to different categories.
